Sensor system for horizontal automatic primal cutting of pig halves (trisection)

For the full-automatic primal cutting system of the Danish company KJ Maskinfabriken a sensor system was developed based on image processing for the control of the cutting positions.

  • primal cutting (trisection) of lying pig halves in ham, middle and shoulder on a conveyer belt system
  • the halves can be layed down orthogonal to the conveyer direction as well as in a defined angle position on the feeding belt
  • a 2 camera system automatically acquires the halves and transmits the image data to a separate evaluation pc
  • the cutting positions are determined with high stability and precision based on the specific anatomic features of every half
  • according to customer requirements and market conditions different cutting positions can be defined
  • the system is designed for high processing capacities
